Kutani Chawan Pottery Festival
九谷茶碗まつり
May 3–5, 9:00–18:00 (until 17:00 on the last day)
Kutani ware is Ishikawa's famous overglaze porcelain, known for its bold five-color painting. At this Golden Week fair in Nomi City — the heartland of Kutani production — about 50 kilns and dealers set up stalls, drawing some 110,000 visitors. Come early on the first morning for the best finds, or on the last day for easier bargaining.
