Mikawa Okaeri Festival
美川おかえり祭り
May 16–17 (3rd weekend of May)
Dating to the early 1800s, the Okaeri Festival of Fujizuka Shrine is beloved for its late-night climax — the mikoshi (portable shrine) returns home along the "okaeri-suji," a designated street that rotates each year. Households along the route remove their sliding doors and open their homes to welcome the procession, a custom rarely seen elsewhere.
