Otabi Festival (Children's Kabuki)
お旅まつり(曳山子供歌舞伎)
May 8–10 (float lineup on May 9)
Every May, the town of Komatsu holds the Otabi Festival, famous for kabuki plays performed entirely by children on gilded festival floats. The tradition dates back about 260 years and reflects the town's deep kabuki heritage. On the main day, all eight surviving floats line up in the town center — the evening performances under lantern light are especially atmospheric.
